“Being part of the UniLife Volunteering Team within the Events Crew was easily one of the highlights of my UOW journey. Having the platform to be actively engaged at UOW through programs allowed me to develop both personally and professionally – all in a way that would not have been possible within a classroom setting.
The volunteering program excels in developing the skills of all involved through valuing the input and contribution that Vollies from varying backgrounds bring with them. Along with larger scale events, I was lucky enough to work closely within the UniBar Trivia and UOW Buddies teams that provided the opportunity to collaborate with likeminded and equally passionate individuals. The Events Crew volunteering pillar allowed me to go beyond the usual academic aspect of University to make a positive impact on the students I have met – whether it be teaching someone something new about Australian culture, or providing a safe and fun space at Trivia for participants to take a break from the stress that comes with studying.
Being an Events Crew volunteer is more than just volunteering – it’s making friends, bringing smiles to people’s faces, engaging with your community and truly making a difference.”
